For detailed information about tuition waiver scholarship opportunities please follow the link and choose your country.

Duration for scholarship: 5 years in the program of study, plus 1 year in the English Language Preparatory Program (if required).

Condition: Scholarship will be suspended if student’s CGPA falls below 2.00 in any two consecutive semesters (This rule does not apply for the first three academic semesters in undergraduate programs) and will be re-granted once student’s CGPA is at least 2.00.

The scholarship of students who attend the English Preparatory Program for one year, and have a yearly total of 50.00 or above, or students who score minimum 50 in any one of the English Proficiency Exams they take continues for another year. In other words, they can repeat the English Preparatory Program under the same scholarship. However, a student must not fail due to absenteeism because such students will not have a yearly total as they have not completed a year at the English Preparatory Program. The only way such students can repeat the English Preparatory Program under a scholarship is score minimum 50 in the only English Proficiency Exam they can take, which is the exam administered in September.

Sibling Discount: One of the siblings (with lower scholarship) will pay the reduced tuition fee of $6000 per academic year . Any further Tuition Waiver discount granted will be calculated taking this reduced fee as a base.

Note: both siblings must be registered as regular students.

TEMPORARY SCHOLARSHIP SUPPORTS PROVIDED DURING EDUCATION

Merit Scholarship:

On condition that student have successfully completed the first two semesters of an undergraduate degree program, excluding the Prep School period, and that their Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) has placed them among the top 3% of the total undergraduate students enrolled in that particular program, excluding those attending the Prep School classes;

  • Students who have attained an N-CGPA (Weighted-Cumulative Grade Point Average) in the interval of 3,50 – 3,74 based on a 4 point scale become eligible to receive a “Merit Scholarship”, which amounts to 450 TL per month, covering October, November, December and January of the following Fall Semester; and February, March, April and May of the Spring Semester.
  • Students who have attained 3,75 or higher N-CGPA on a 4 point scale become eligible to receive a Merit Scholarship, which amounts to 650 TL per month, covering October, November, December and January of the following Fall semester; and February, March, April and May of the Spring Semester.

The Chairperson of the Campus Administrative Board has the discretion to make the final decision on matters including;

  • The exact number of students who will receive a Merit Scholarship from those who meet the above mentioned eligibility criterion, in the cases where the corresponding value of 3% of students enrolled in the program (excluding those attending the Prep School classes) is a decimal number or less than 2,
  • Whether to increase the quota for scholarship recipients, in the cases where multiple applicants have achieved exactly the same Grade Point Average (GPA) and are eligible for the scholarship.

CGPAs and N-CGPAs are calculated based on the grades assigned in the semester concerned.

Regardless of their N-CGPA, (i) students who have been suspended from the University for one week and those upon whom a more serious penalty has been imposed in line with the Directive for Student Disciplinary Matters; and students who have been dismissed from the Dormitories for one semester and those upon whom a more serious penalty has been imposed in line with the Dormitory Regulations, (ii) students who have failed to undertake their regular course load in the last two semesters of their studies, excluding the summer school period, and those who have had an FD, FF, NA, W or U grade, (iii) students whose CGPA or GPA for the last two semesters, excluding the summer school period, has fallen below 3,0 will not be eligible for a Merit Scholarship.

Student Assistantship: There are also scholarship opportunities offered to students in return for working in the library, laboratories, IT, sports complex, dormitories etc. In order to be eligible for this type of scholarship, not only academic success but also the student’s financial conditions and disciplinary suitability are taken into consideration.

Support Scholarship: On the condition that they are successful in their studies, students in need of temporary financial support, may apply to this scholarship (with evidence of their situation) which provides them with books, necessities etc. This support is subject to decision of the Scholarship and Support Fund of METU NCC.

Important note: None of these temporary support opportunities cover Tuition Fee, Dormitory Fee or other similar major expenses.
