QS EECA (Emerging Europa and Central Asia) University Rankings 2022

METU has ranked first among the universities in Türkiye in QS EECA 2022 ranking that includes the top universities in Emerging Europe and Central Asia. Our university took the 11th place in the complete ranking list, in which there are 451 universities from 30 countries. The language of instruction is English and METU is mainly based in capital city Ankara, though it also has a campus in Northern Cyprus. Its 4,500-hectare main campus includes over 3,000 hectares of forest, including Lake Eymir, which is a popular spot for students to take part in fishing, rowing and other recreational activities. The Northern Cyprus Campus resides on a hill with a wonderful view in the north-eastern part of Cyprus, the charming Mediterranean island.

QS World University Rankings 2022

METU Climbs in QS Rankings, METU has ranked 333rd and 224th worldwide in the "Academic Reputation" and "Employer Reputation" indicators respectively, according to the QS World University Rankings 2022. In addition, METU has ranked in the range of 551-560, increasing its overall score in the rankings.

METU Ranks First among Turkish universities in the Global 2000 list by CWUR

METU ranked first among 55 universities from Türkiye according to the 2021-2022 ranking of two thousand universities worldwide, according to the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR). In the list where the quality of education, alumni employment, quality of faculty, and research performance are evaluated by CWUR, METU ranked first in the national rankings with a total of 73.4 points. METU also became top-ranked among Turkish universities by ranking 573rd in the Global 2000 list.

2021

According to the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Rankings by Subject 2021, METU has been ranked 1st across Türkiye in the subject areas "Engineering & Technology", "Natural Sciences" and "Social Sciences & Management". METU is ranked 11th and 36th respectively in the world in the Petroleum Engineering and Minerals and Mining sub-fields."

2018

Turkish University rankings of UK-based Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) by subject areas were released at Council of Higher Education (YOK) on January 16, 2018. According to this release based on 2017 results, it is declared once more that METU is ranked among the top 400 universities in the World in 15 subject areas, and represents our Country in the highest number of subjects. Based on the ratio of the number of subjects in which a university is among the top 400 to the number of subjects in which its publications are the most relevant, METU comes in second with 15 out of 32 subjects, following Istanbul Technical University with 11 out of 22 subjects. QS rankings were determined based on "Academic Reputation", "University Reputation", "Citation Ratios" and "H-Index", a metric for the impact of academic studies.

2017

The British company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has announced the 2017 rankings of the world's top universities by subject. METU, which appeared in the list with 12 subjects last year, is among the world's "top" universities in 15 scientific subjects, thus representing Türkiye in the highest number of fields.

In QS Broad Subject Area rankings, METU was ranked;

-       259th in Engineering & Technology
-       308th in Natural Sciences
-       389th in Social Studies and Management
-       in the first 500 universities in Arts & Humanities.

METU is  one of the Turkish universities that have ranked 45th in 'the World's Top 100 Universities' list for Mineral & Mining Engineering subject area. In addition, METU was listed:

-   in the first 150 universities in 2 subject areas (Architecture, Civil & Structural Engineering)
-  in the first 200 universities in 5 subject areas (Statistics & Operational Research, Education, Politics & International Studies, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Mechanical, Aeronautical & Manufacturing Engineering),
-  in the first 250 universities in 2 subject areas (Chemical Engineering, Material Sciences)
-  in the first 300 universities in 1 subject area (Computer Science & Information Systems)
-   in the first 350 universities in 1 subject area (Physics & Astronomy)
-   in the first 400 universities in 2 subject areas (Economics and Econometrics, Mathematics)

2016

METU appeared in 'the World's top 100 universities' list for Mineral & Mine Engineering. In addition, METU appeared in 'the World's top 150 universities' list in 4 subjects (Statistics & Operational Research, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Civil & Structural Engineering, Mechanical, Aeronautical & Manufacturing Engineering), in 'the World's top 200 universities' list in 4 subjects (Politics & International Studies, Education, Earth & Marine Sciences, Chemical Engineering), in 'the World's top 300 universities' list in 2 subjects (Physics & Astronomy, Computer Science & Information Systems) and in 'the World's top 350 universities' list in 1 subject (Mathematics).

2015

According to UK based Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) 2015-2016 rankings of world universities by subject, out of 3,551, 400 most successful universities determined by their performances on research papers in 36 individual subjects areas, METU entered in the top 431-440 universities band list with 10 subjects areas, being the highest ranking Turkish university in the QS listings.

Civil and Structural Engineering and Mechanical-Aeronautical-Manufacturing Engineering subjects are the only fields from Türkiye represented by our university to be in the top 100 university list.
Additionally, METU is listed among the first 150 with 2 subjects' areas; Statistics-Operational Research and Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Also, we have been listed in the first 200 with 3 subjects' areas; Political and International Studies, Education and Marine Sciences. Mathematics, Computing Sciences and Information Systems subjects have been among the first 250. We have been listed among the first 300 universities in Physics and Astronomy.

2014

METU became the first and only university in Türkiye to enter the "World's Top 100 Universities (Ranked 85th)" list according to the "World University Rankings 2014-2015", released by the UK-based Times Higher Education (THE).

2013

Middle East Technical University is placed among the top 60 universities in the "World Reputation Rankings 2013″, announced by the Times Higher Education (THE). ODTÜ moved up in this year's list to rank in the 51-60 band of universities.

2012

METU entered THE "Top Universities by Reputation" list of 2012, and it was the first and only Turkish university to be included in the top 100 world universities (91-100 band).
